Kells Characters Re-imagined
I watched "The Secret of Kells" the other night and just had to draw these three.
Took some creative licence obviously, especially with Aisling. I thought about that long, flowing, almost supernatural hair of hers and thought: "What if her dress were an extension of her hair?"
It was fun to draw, I like it. What do you think?

Sea Chef
This was my entry for the July "Character Design Challenge".
Every month they post a new theme and hundreds of artists submit their vision of a character to match that theme.
This months theme is: Master Chef.
This months theme is: Master Chef.
It was shark week so I thought I'd do something appropriate.
Ahem...
"Down beneath the waves of Tokyo Bay lies the best kept secret in Japan:"Fin's Sushi Bar" where expert chef "Fin Wanizame", a Japanese Tiger Shark, filets up something tasty for a clientele used to breathing underwater.
Chef Fin crafts gourmet items of choice, using only the finest, meats, kelp, kale, and seaweed, straight from the source. His sushi, crab legs, calamari, and fish tacos are guaranteed to be local, fresh, and organic, attracting many Hipster mermaids to his place."
I thought it was clever.

Fathers Day
I made this card for my dad for Fathers Day.
It combines his two favorite jokes: The "2 Muffins in the Oven" joke,
and the "No Soap, Radio" Joke... In case you don't know them.

New Sonic Comic?
I did a few pages for a theoretical "Sonic The Hedgehog" comic book called:
"Sonic & The Freedom Fighters".
The idea is to kind reboot the Sonic universe so that we tell the story line of the games with the characters of the comics, without getting convoluted from past story arcs.
Sonic here, has just woken up to discover he's not the little, brown, four legged hedgehog he used to be.

Little Indian Girl
Here's a character I came up with one night when my computer was down.
"Sorry Wacom, no drawing tonight."
So I sat down and for the first time in months started doodling with a pencil.
What kind of character would I draw? I started randomly sketching ideas an before I knew it this had come to pass.
That is after MUCH trial and error.
That's right, folks, that's how hard we artists work. Don't think otherwise.
What's her name? What's her story? I don't know.
But she's a cute little character isn't she? I could certainly see using this for something.

Character Design
Everyone knows about the whole Pirate vs Ninja thing.
I just had to make a pirate ninja.

Son of a pirate ninja and a pirate; half elf, half human. Half ninja, half pirate.

Tintin
A redesign of the classic character Tintin.
I think it would be great to have another Tintin show on TV.
But this time let's have all new adventures.
It's not like there's any lack of scifi and fantasy material for him to investigate around the world. Tintin is known as a detective (or reporter) but he was always getting himself into traps and temples and physical altercations of all sorts. He was a real action hero.
So here I've got him redesigned as a 1940's/50's, adventurer, utilizing some of the older design features like the cap and black socks.
I'll probably post the rest of the cast up here, at some point.

About Me
I've been drawing since before I can remember.
I always loved cartoons and animation and as as a kid was inundated with Disney movies. I grew up I developed an appreciation for these animated features as a work of art, not only of the story but the beautiful backgrounds and landscapes, the fluid animation and the stylized character design.I've also always been a fan of comics; comic books, comic strips, web comics, if it can tell a story through pictures I.like it. Thus I take my inspiration from a great many sources including Glen Keane, Bruce Timm, Tracy Yardley, even Jim Davis.
I've developed a style that I think is unique as well as quirky and interesting, as well as a variety of sub-styles for various occasions.
