I Put my own spin on it with an anthro sea turtle.
I think this is also only the second time I've taken part in Mermay.

Well, that may HAVE worked...

Ok, so I attacked the Red Panda girl, again.

(I'll take sentences never uttered before, for $400, Alex.)

Recalling what I said in the last post, this time, I followed my own rule and drew just the whole body first, BEFORE adding clothes.

The final decision was that it was best to just use cartoon simplification and make her legs red, though, I did give her black arms in the same way that Sonic has bare arms.

Knowing large amounts of clothing won't work with this kind of design, I then decided to try and keep up with the French look, I had inadverant created by swapping out the sweater for some slip on shoes, and a scarf. The white gloves, like with Sonic, keep the black arms from looking too awkward and out of place with the rest of the body.

Nonetheless, the Beret & Sweater combo had made me think, so I decided to try once more with the sweater, just in a different way. I think this works a lot better. Kind of a 1960's "beatnik look."

Her black hands still look like hands, since there are no gloves and the sleeves are clearly pulled back. And the black belly fur gives just enough of a hint of a color pattern. She no longer looks like just a red Raccoon.

And, of course, if you still want to use the oversized sweater look, you can always use an animal that is way more recognizable in the face. AND the feet...

...Like a duck.

Ironically the "Pantless Duck" rule is one that I think can be ignored, here.

It's a little overkill when your character has a bill AND webbed feet.
