WELCOME

Hi there!

My name is Taylor Gibson; or as everybody calls me "GIB" (The Graphic Image Builder)

But for the purposes of this Site you can call me:

"CARTOONICUS!"
And this is my portfolio site.

Aladdin Sketches

More studying of Disney Characters till my style improves.

Moving on to the next character: Aladdin

This one didn't take me as long to get down, though, at the same time, the exact proportions seem to taunt me, always close but ever so out of my grasp. I can't decide if I was swinging with three bats, with Ariel, or if Aladdin is more of an "Easy to learn, hard to master" kind of character.

Maybe a little bit of both.

At this point, I learned never again to try coloring in this guy's black hair, lest my 2H pencil be a smoldering spot of ash on the floor.

Aladdin has the most rounded mouth. Even when it occasionally comes to a point, it only serves to emphasize the roundedness of other lines.

Case in point...

Finally starting to find some interesting expressions for this guy

Because his hair is black and the outlines are black, it took me some time to realize Aladdin just has the same hair swoop as Ariel.

Aladdin has such big bushy eyebrows... like me.

START PANICING!
(What an artist says when they get even a single line wrong in a generic sketch)

Final "From scratch/from memory" drawing.
I asked my brother what kind of expression I should do, and he gave me a random, quirky look, so I went with it.

With that, I'm moving on. I could probably stand to practice more with this guy, but it would only serve to perfect the dimensions, and I'm not trying to learn to draw Aladdin here. I'm trying to learn and discover new drawing techniques. So I feel like I've done all I can with him. At least for now.

Next up, Pacha.

Stay TOONED!
